Southern’s Childcare Program

About Us

Southern’s Childcare program is designed for children ages 18 months to four years of age. Once registered, each child’s place in the program will be reserved for the entire semester, allowing families to depend on SBTS as part of their weekly routine. During their time in Southern Childcare, children will take part in Bible-based activities.

Information such as specific policies will be listed on the registration page for your convenience.

The Childcare Program is for approved affiliates only.

Approved Affiliates:

  • Current Students (this does not include students with a disrupted status)
  • Current Employees (this includes Sodexo and Pioneer workers)
  • Alumni
  • Current Trustees
  • Current Board Members

We are located in The Childcare Room in Honeycutt Hall

Registration Information

Registration opens the first Saturday in August for the Fall Semester and the first Saturday in January for the Spring Semester unless otherwise detailed.

Question: Can you open up the class for more kids?

Answer: Classes will not be opened up for more children as our class sizes are set by our child safety ratios. For legal reasons, this cannot be changed if the class has already maxed the ratio. In the event the class you desired is full, the waitlist listed at the end of this page is your only option in the event a spot opens up that was previously taken.

Meet Ashley Akesson

Coordinator of Childcare

Mrs. Ashley has been working within Children’s ministries in various contexts over the last 10 years. She’s been a Sunday school teacher and preschool/kindergarten intern for her church before Boyce and regularly serves in the nursery at her church Ninth & O since being in Louisville from Fall 2018. She most recently has completed her Bachelor’s in Youth & Family Ministry from Boyce. She loves serving the families of Southern by overseeing the Children’s Department and is passionate about teaching kids about the Lord and His love for them no matter their age. In addition to her work in Children’s Ministry Mrs. Ashley has been married to her husband for the past 2 years and they just had a little boy this past April named Henry. If she’s not working, you can often find her with her little family, doing something artistic, or participating in her local church Ninth & O.

You can email her at: aakesson@sbts.edu for questions, prayer requests, or even to set up a meeting to get to know you and your family better!
