The Cooperative Program Course is a self-paced class that consists primarily of lectures covering a brief history of the Southern Baptist Convention and an explanation of the Southern Baptist Convention’s work through The Cooperative Program.
This course is a graduation requirement for all degree-seeking students at Southern Seminary and Boyce College.
Students must complete this course within their first year of study. The Cooperative Program Course is offered multiple times throughout each academic year.
Who takes this course?
All degree-seeking students (including Boyce College, Masters, Diploma, and Doctoral students) are required to complete this course before graduating. Students are highly encouraged to complete this course during their first year of study.
Masters or Doctoral students who have previously completed 26200 Southern Baptist Heritage and Mission will not be required to complete 42490.
Boyce College graduates who completed CP100 will not be required to take 42490.
Students who have completed an equivalent course at a sister SBC seminary will not be required to take 42490, provided a transcript indicating course completion has been provided to Academic Records.
What is the cost of this course?
There is no cost for 42490 or CP100.
What work is required for the course?
The Cooperative Program course is self-paced with due dates at the end of the term. The course is divided into 4 Units. Each unit has between 30-45 minutes (about 2 ½ hours total for the course) of pre-recorded lectures as well as a required quiz over each lecture.
There are no required readings or textbooks for the course.
There are no live-syncs or in-person meetings for this course.
How do I register for the course?
Registration is available on MySBTS for students to self-register.
When is the course offered?
The Cooperative Program course is offered multiple times each academic year.
Is there a separate version for online vs. on-campus students?
No. All students will take the same version of the course. All work is completed online.
What are the quizzes like?
Students are required to watch each lecture and earn at least 80% on the corresponding lecture quiz in order to pass the course. Students can take each quiz as many times as is necessary. If students wish to take notes alongside watching the lectures, a student notes document can be found on the course home page that will guide students’ viewing.
Students will have 15 minutes to complete each lecture quiz. Students are allowed to use the notes they took while watching the lecture during the quiz. However, they may not watch the lecture or access the lecture videos while taking the quiz. Students should ensure they have their notes prepared beforehand, as they may not access lecture content during the quiz.
