Women

Wondering if Southern has a place for you?

At Southern Seminary, we recognize the vital role that women play in God’s Kingdom. In addition to academic degree programs at the master's and doctoral levels, we’ve created a variety of special programs and ministries to equip you for whatever calling God has placed on your life.

Women’s Programs

Seminary Wives Institute is an innovative program designed to prepare the wives of seminary students for their role in their husband’s ministry. SWI is an academic program with courses designed to give biblically based and practically applied teaching, taught by our own seminary faculty as well as faculty wives and guest speakers. Upon completion, ladies earn a Certificate of Ministry Studies from Boyce College.

Women of the Word is a discipleship program for female students and student wives that will challenge them to consider carefully both Scripture and their response to it, so as to deepen their faith in, love for, and obedience to the Lord Jesus Christ. Our hope is to give a working model of how to conduct a ladies Bible study with expositional and relational skill.

Koinonia is a twice-per-semester event where ladies of the Southern Seminary and Boyce community come together to fellowship with one anotherThis event provides the opportunity for female students to interact with female staff and faculty wives through casual table conversations and a brief program.

While the classroom is full of practical training for ministry, Equip is intended to focus on training specifically for women’s ministry. The purpose of Equip is to take theological training and apply it to real-life situations that women will face in ministry. Each semester an Equip seminar is offered to the ladies of Southern.

The Adelphai Society is a student organization that seeks to serve the wives of Ph.D. students. Through monthly meetings the Adelphai Society provides fellowship, equips and encourages women as they love and support their husbands, and also exposes Ph.D. wives to the academic world.

Woman’s Auxiliary (WA) is a network of women who prayerfully support the seminary in a number of ways, such as providing scholarships for female students, supporting international students, and taking on projects around campus. One of WA’s projects is The Southern Exchange, a ministry to current students that provides donated gently used clothing, household items, and furniture.
