This coming week at Southern Seminary we have the privilege of hosting Dr. Raymond C. Ortlund, Jr. to deliver the Mullins Lectures.
On Tuesday, September 30, Dr. Ortlund will be preaching in chapel on “Power in Preaching: Decide” from 1 Cor 2:1-5. In Heritage Hall on Wednesday at 10 a.m. he will deliver a lecture entitled “Power in Preaching: Delight” from 2 Cor 12:1-10, and on Thursday Dr. Ortlund will again be in chapel to lecture on “Power in Preaching: Desire” from 1 Thess 1-3.
On Tuesday, Dr. and Mrs. Ortlund will also conduct a book signing in the LifeWay bookstore on campus at 2:30 p.m.
In addition, there will be a luncheon with Dr. and Mrs. Ortlund on Thursday, October 2, at 11:30 a.m. in Heritage Hall. The luncheon is available to all students and faculty. Tickets are available in my office (Norton 147) for $3, and you may RSVP by stopping by or emailing theology@sbts.edu. We just need your name and how many tickets you need; you can pay for the tickets between now and Thursday.
And if you can’t afford a ticket, I will cover your cost.
The Mullins Lectureship in Preaching is one of the nation’s oldest continuous lectureships in the area of homiletics. The series was established by Dr. Edgar Young Mullins, Southern Seminary’s fourth president, and is an enduring memorial to his ministry and leadership through this institution.
I hope to see you at the Mullins Lectures this week as we think together about the task of preaching with Dr. Ray Ortlund. Please do not hesitate to contact my office if you have any questions.
