Good News — Most Power Restored
Published by Albert Mohler on 17 Sep 2008 at 04:59 am
The good news started spreading across the campus on Tuesday as power came back on, first in the Honeycutt Center, and later in other parts of the campus. By nightfall, electrical power had been restored to most of the campus, with the exception of Foster Hall and some campus homes. We are very, very thankful for this progress.
This is great news, but over 100,000 of our friends, colleagues, and neighbors are without power still. Furthermore, the entire city still faces a major clean-up effort. On the campus, the clean-up is going well. Please continue to be careful on the campus and driving around the city.
Let’s also keep working to help our neighbors and remember in prayer those who are in greatest distress.
Last night, we had a great time in the cafeteria. Once again, Chef Jim and his crew did a great job managing to feed hundreds of students and families under very difficult circumstances. The food was great and the fellowship was even greater. Many students and families went out on the lawn after the meal and enjoyed the beautiful weather.
We expect to have normal service operations up by 11:00 a.m. Wednesday. Classes will resume on normal schedule Monday. Additional updates will follow.
